A couple Saturdays ago, Mama & I attended a Women's Car Care Clinic hosted my the awesome husband-wife team, Waylon & Kimberly from Import Services. First off, these people are ah-mazing. They make you feel at home there at the shop, both in the garage AND the lobby. They're just all around great people who radiate the love of Christ & have a passion for helping people keep their cars in great shape!
Before the class officially started, we sat in the lobby & enjoyed the delicious food and got to know Waylon and Kimberly and their story of how they started their business. After everyone arrived, we went into the garage where we supposed to introduce ourselves. I say supposed because we all sang the praises of Import Services & how great they are! ;) Waylon worked on the ol' Volvo since I'm going to inherit that car when I'm allowed to drive! Thanks Waylon!! Up next is the seat controls since they're broken and this girl is a shortie...
An hour later {yes, we had that many good things to say about them!}, we started off the class with a lesson on tires and brake pads...
{did you know brake pads are metal?! not a spongy thing like i thought they were?! crazy, man}
...warning lights...
...and lessons on where your car battery is, plus a lot of great info in between!!
{did you also know that some car batteries are in weird places like the trunk or under the backseat?! i'm proud to say that i did know that!}
On to the hands on part! We all went outside to learn the ins and outs of checking your oil level...
... recognizing what's what under the hood...
...the difference between clean & dirty air filters... {Can you guess which one is which?}
...check tire pressure in stilettos, no less...
...check the oil on different cars...
...learn about little knobby things that are important to mechanics ;)...
...and learn that when all else fails and the oil is running low, grab a cup and make a funnel! My life is now complete!!
And we were done...almost 3 hours later!! Seriously though, this class was so informative and I didn't feel stupid at all because I didn't know how to do half these things because hey: there we're people there just like me! Waylon & Kimberly presented the info so clearly that even if you didn't know a THING about cars, you left knowing more than the basics.
And, because no blog post of mine is complete with random shots around the place that I consider "artistic", here you go...P.S. You're welcome. ;)
{a canon 40D. :: simultaneousnesly drools & squeals at the awesomeness::}
Thanks for the great class, guys!! I now feel so very smart about all the basics, and I will highly recommend it to anybody and everybody! :)
