subway: eat fresh

A couple weeks back Subway offered a free foot-long sub with the purchase of a regular price one in honor of Tax Day. Since we don't exactly get a "lunch" at CBS, we, naturally, jumped at the chance to get something free. Off we went to the nearest Subway, only to find ten other hungry people in line at the smoked-filled gas station...with a Subway in it. You read that right. A gas station with a Subway in it. Am I the only one who thinks it's strange?
Needless to say, we didn't get our subs from that particular Subway.  When we finally got them, we were off to Dad's office, subs in tow. Armed with Dr. Pepper and Veggie Straws, we made our way up two flights of stairs and had a mini-picnic of sorts in Dad's fishbowl of an office. Seriously, everybody was watching us eat our subs, which was a little nerve racking. Here's a blurry picture of our spread...
I made Dad take this picture, to his dismay. I had basically written this post in my head two weeks ago. True story.
And lastly, Clark explaining the importance of eating Subway in order to support Chuck. With a mouthful of the sub he and Dad split, thank you very much. Manners, child, manners. :) If only eating Subway this time around would really renew Chuck for the fourth season. I'd be eating Subway everyday.

worship music wenesday

Here I go with blogging about certain things on certain days of the week again...
I found this one over on Lauren's, and since worshiping God through music is just about the best thing ever (in my book, at least!), I so jumped onto the bandwagon. As far as I know, she and I are the only ones who are doing it, so feel free to join in. You don't have to do two like I did, but it's fine if you'd like!

Don’t know how it is You looked at me
And saw the person that I could be
Awakening my heart
Breaking through the dark
Suddenly Your grace

(Chorus)
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so
Beautiful, beautiful

Now there’s a joy inside I can’t contain
But even perfect days can end in rain
And though it’s pouring down
I see You through the clouds
Shining on my face

(Chorus)

I have come undone
But I have just begun
Changing by Your grace

(Chorus)

At twenty years of age I'm still looking for a dream
A war's already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see

(Chorus)
‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right, and I'd make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt

(Chorus)

And you’re free to be you

Sometimes I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe
Even though

(Chorus)

almost wordless wednesday: besties

Just some pictures from yesterday afternoon when we finished school. And as for the last one, a classic who face. What's a who face? Well, it's basically when you suck in air, which puffs out your cheeks, and hold it while you take a picture. Don't know where the name came from, but I'm pretty sure Emily got it from Anna. I think I can rival her in a who face contest... :)
Also, what do you think about the second one as my new profile picture? Yay or nay?

still here!

I feel like I've left you, my faithful blog readers, in the dark for the past week. Truth is I have, and the upcoming week will be even busier than the previous one!
Yesterday night was Emily and Katie's joint birthday party. They generously offered to let me spend the night since I was one of the only ones without a ride back home (i.e. a car), plus I live a little ways away from them. We stayed up past midnight laughing about something to do with the word "bubbles", and didn't get up until 9:30, which was pretty awesome in and of itself. Made breakfast, ate our french toast while watching the Duggar's knit baby booties for their newest addition to their already insanely big family, and got into a half and hour long pillow fight/air mattress war, all while we were supposed to be getting ready.  Then we took a shower, got something for lunch, and helped Andrew with his newest Playmobil video before Mom arrived to pick me up. If he ever posts said videos, beware of my mad screaming skills. We just about died laughing when the crazy man came through the window while he was sleep walking. Interesting story line, but I like it.
Needless to say, I'm crashing and burning tonight, and I'm pretty sure they are too! Thankfully we don't have anywhere to go tomorrow so we can sleep in and work on school work the whole day. But the rest of the week is a different story. Mom's job training begins on Tuesday (prayers are great appreciated!) and since it's not in the town closest to us, we're being shipped off to other homeschooling families who are going to take us in during part of the week. I don't think we've seen this many of our friends in this short of a time span, but it promises to be a week full of early mornings and memories that only come from a caffeine induced coma. Don't worry, we're not those people of have to have a coffee drip in the mornings, but I just might have to start taking cold showers and actually drinking coffee in order to stay awake...
Look for a Simple Woman's Daybook, Wordless Wednesday, and a couple other posts that will be most definitely scheduled this week!

wordless wednesday

P.S. I promise I'll post something other than flowers for my next Wordless Wednesday. Posting flowers every  time is a bit cliche, don't you think? And since I'm typing on this post, I guess it's not really a Wordless Wednesday anymore...

the simple woman's daybook for april 19th

Sorry for my absence in the blogging world this week! Seems like I blog in spurts, but I promise you that will change in the summer. For now, I'm thinking about posting every other day and maybe, just maybe, start commenting again. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Another Monday means another Simple Woman's Daybook, so scroll on down to read my sixth installment of  this blog carnival, created by Peggy. Go on over and read the rules if you'd like to enter. I promise you it doesn't disappoint!

For today...April 19th, 2010. Not much to say about today, except it's just another school day.
Outside my window...It's a bright, sunshiny day, and I really should be outside, but I'm blogging instead. Oh, the things I do for my blog readers, like sacrifice my daily amount of Vitamin D. :)
I am thinking...My mind is all over the place, but that's okay. I'm used to it by now, since I've lived almost a decade and a half.
I am thankful for...Weeks where I have things to do and places to go nearly every day. Don't get me wrong, because I love a lazy day or two, but I can only stare at the computer screen working on my schoolwork for so long. Luckily, this week is chock full of stuff to do and I can't wait.
From the learning rooms...I think I looked at the clock around 3:00 and realized I had basically finished all my subjects, despite having a ton of stuff to do! I wonder if this trend will keep up or if it was a one time thing.
From the kitchen...Texas Caviar with grilled chicken for supper, which I'm in charge of making, so I better hurry up and write this post!
I am wearing...Yoga pants with a white tank top and pink hoodie over it. The hoodie isn't my favorite, but it was clean, so I can't argue with that. I'm actually planning on sleeping in it tonight. What? You don't ever dress in comfy clothes for the sole purpose of not having to change into PJ's? I guess that's just me.
I am creating...More like created. Yes, I finally created something about a week ago, to be exact. I think I heard my inner artist singing.
I am going...Scroll on down to the end of this post to read all about the places we have to go this week.
I am reading...Nothing but my required school reading. I was reading a "fun" book over Spring Break, but I quickly realized I can't read more than two different books at one time. Mind you, I used to have three or four books started all at the same time, but that was a long time ago.
I am hoping...To accomplish every thing I set out to do today. Looks like I will!
I am hearing...Just me, myself and I typing away. I think the rest of the family is outside, but I'm not sure.
Around the house...It's sooo quiet. Too quiet, actually. I wonder what's happening outside, because I haven't heard anyone in awhile.
One of my favorite things...Nights like tonight. Watching my favorite show with Mom while listening to the cat purring beside us on the couch. He's so loud, though, so you have to turn the TV up loud. True story.
A few plans for the rest of the week...Into town we go tomorrow, first for Leader's Council (a form of CBS), then meeting a friend for lunch and discussing the rest of the CBS year. Wednesday we're headed to get the car worked on and visiting with family who live in the area. You know the drill for Thursdays. Women's CBS in the morning, Teen CBS at night. Friday's full of fellowship with friends, plus some babysitting thrown in there. Saturday night is Miss EmmyLou and Katie's joint birthday party, with a possible sleepover at their house that night. And yes, I do call her that sometimes. :)
A picture for thought I am sharing...
Everything is just so green! I really do think that spring is my favorite time of year....

4/12/10

oh spring, you are a photographer's dream!

Remember the picture I posted awhile back for Simple Woman's Daybook last week as a tease of what was to come? Well, here they are! I know you readers were constantly checking your Google Reader for this post...or not.
FYI, the trees do not look this way anymore, thanks to the great weekend wind storm of '10, so this post is really just documenting that they actually had flowers on them this year. But if a little wind storm is what we have to put up with to finally get some warmer temps around here, I'll gladly let my hair whip me in the face repeatedly, although feeling the car move around as we came down highway 264 was not cool. At all.
On to the pictures! The first one is what you'd see if you were swinging on the tire swing. There's another tree in front of the one to the left, but I was trying to capture just how big they really are.
A close up of the second tree. Pure beautifulness, right? Makes me wish I had an awesome camera to take awesome pictures with. Because, you know, if you take a picture on a awesome camera, it's a rule the picture will turn out awesome. Moving on...
I just had to include this one even if it's a little out of focus. See that open window? Look closely and you can see Butter, the cat who thinks he's a human. Really, he does, and he plays the part of an infant perfectly...crying, not meowing, when he's hungry or his litter box is full. I'll probably do a whole other post just about him, because he's that awesome. I've already started showing signs turning into an old cat lady. Help me!! :)

Look for some more posts coming your way soon at a blog near you, which, you know, would be this blog. I'm going to stop now, okay?

4/10/10

guess what?!

Guess who got a perfect score in Wii bowling last week? Yep, that would be me! And I have photographic proof to back it up. Scroll on down to see the evidence, plus a really cheesy grin that you will only see this one time. Oh yeah, guess what we said when the game was all over? "This is going on the blog!" True story.
Poor Dad said he wanted this to go on the blog, but was ashamed to put his bad score in front of the World Wide Web.

I was trying to be like one of those models on the Price is Right or some daytime TV show. I look like I'm just smirking, but, seriously, I was jumping up and down on the inside.
I'm saving the best for last, but it's more like worst for last. Whatever.
And...there it is! :) Like I said, this is the first and last time you will see a picture like this on here. But not because I'm vain or anything, but because, yeah...there's really no other reason.

monthly makeover 3

This month's background isn't Easter related, mostly because Easter is sooo early this year and I didn't want to have a Easter background up all month long. It was a different story with St. Patty's Day being in the middle of March and all.
I'm kinda sorta in love with this month's background! It's just so bright and cheery, just like spring. I originally had this one up when I first started my blog, but took it down after a couple and replaced it with a Christmas background, since it was Christmas season, after all! Makes sense, doesn't it?

And this is just for my own reference, so feel free to skip this and click on the picture above to visit the site and look at all the cuteness that comes in the form of a blog background...(This month's background is Little Miss Sunshine from Shabby Blogs.com.)
What do you think about the background? Is the yellow colored font too much? Input would be nice, and I'm hoping it will generate some comments also! :)

the simple woman's daybook for april 8th

It's Spring Break, so you'd think I'd have time to blog a little more often, but sadly I have not. I have plenty of posts all typed up, awaiting approval from the parents, so writing the posts isn't a problem...the parents are! :) Yeah, let's just say that's my excuse for my not posting for almost two weeks. I wonder if that's why I've lost some followers.
What better way to break back into the blogging world with a Simple Woman's Daybook? Without further ado, because I'm really just rambling on, I give you the fifth installment of the Simple Woman's Daybook.

Outside my window...It's gorgeous, although since a cold front is moving in and bringing some rain and possible thunderstorms, it's pretty windy. Remember that wind storm we had a couple weeks ago? Well, this one's giving that one a run for it's money.
I am thinking...about all the things that I want to do, not need to do. There's a big difference, you know.
I am thankful for...Days like today, and night time thunderstorms like we're supposed to have tonight. Dad and I love to hear little rumbles of thunder as we're falling asleep.
From the learning rooms...It's Spring Break, baby! Except for some brainstroming about my online class' final project, I am free. Free, free, free.
From the kitchen...Black bean burgers with sweet potato fries and some raw veggies are on the menu tonight. You'd think we're vegetarians, but we do enjoy and hamburger off the grill every now and then during the summer.
I am wearing...A grey t-shirt, compliments of Emily, and my skinny jeans that I cuffed. Aren't cuffed pants in right now? Please tell me they are, because I've been wearing them the whole week!
I am creating...I almost resurrected my dead inner artist out of boredom this week, but she remained dead. I do make the sample crafts for the preschool aged children for CBS. Does that count?
I am going...Nowhere, absolutely nowhere. For now, at least.
I am reading...More like re-reading a book. I really wanted to go to Barnes and Nobles this week, but it doesn't look like it's happening. Oh well, I've got plenty of books that are worth reading again.
I am hoping...To get this post done and spend some time with the family later tonight.
I am hearing...The TV and various other things, although the sound of the wind whistling through the house isn't easily ignored.
Around the house...Not much. Car repairs filled up most of the day, so I'm sure showers are going to take place before dinner rather than the usual after dinner shower. I don't blame them.
One of my favorite things...Playing outside. Those old fashioned games like tag, hide and go seek, or even just throwing a ball back and forth. But hitting someone with a Nerf football while they were riding a scooter is even better. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything because it's not like I spent half a hour playing this so called "game". ;)
A few plans for the rest of the week...Grocery shopping tomorrow and church on Sunday, nursery duty actually, are the only things on the calendar.
A picture for thought I am sharing...Instead of just one picture, I'm giving you a link to Miss Lori's SmugMug page. Go HERE to see how we spent last Friday afternoon and renewed my love of those old fashioned games we played when we were little.
