i'm feelin' feminine

You, my fellow readers, are looking at, er, reading the words of March's Feelin' Feminine Challenge host!!
I couldn't be more excited about it and I'm hoping that you'll join me as I embark on the great journey of wearing skirts for a full week. If not, that's fine, but I'll tell you one thing, you're missing out on a great thing.
What's that? When does it start? In T-minus three days (that's the 2nd, a Tuesday, for you people that have a hard time with math. Like, ahem, myself.), so get ready!
I'll give the full set of rules and how you can participate on the actual starting day, so be sure to check back on Tuesday!

the simple woman's daybook for feb. 15th

Peggy is doing something a little different this time around. Since Mondays are, well, Mondays, she's decided to move her Simple Woman's Daybook post to Tuesday, along with Mister Linky. Although I'm a fan of the change, I actually have time to sit down and post this Monday. But I'm not saying that I'm not going to take advantage of the change, because I am, but just not this week.
With that being said, read on for the third installment of the Simple Woman's Daybook...

For today...February 15th, 2010. The day after Valentine's Day, and I must say, I don't feel any different.
Outside my window...It's raining. All together now! "Rain, rain, go away..."
I am thinking...
I am thankful for...
From the learning rooms...Bible study, a math test, reading and excersizing all before lunch, which is a pretty big deal for me. After lunch, my online class download plus reading three chapters in the textbook took up a chuck of time. I still finished at a reasonable time and did some work on my study guide for biology. I completed everything!
From the kitchen...Beef stew with carrots and onions, along with mashed potatoes, for supper. And, man, it smells delious!
I am wearing...Jeans, an orange shirt from Old Navy with a brown hoodie for my layering affect. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to layer my clothes. Of course, I'm a cold natured person.
I am creating...a feeling of hypothermia in my fingers from being in the schoolroom for so long. Seriously, it's got to be at least five degrees cooler in here.
I am going...to Leader's Council (a form of CBS) with Mama tomorrow, then we're off to get our hair cut in Ayden. Women and Teen CBS on Thursday
I am reading...Still reading Just Give Me Jesus by Anne Graham Lotz. I'm about halfway through.
I am hoping...school will quit stressing me out so much. If you think about it, pray for me. It's really weighing on me, and although I'm trying to take it one day at a time, some things have to be planned out, you know?
I am hearing...Just the sounds of normal life.
Around the house...I'm not sure what's going on. Clark's probably in front of the TV and I think Mama's on the phone.
One of my favorite things...Getting away from it all. I don't mean taking a vacation, but sometimes it nice when  you get a change of scencery.
A few plans for the rest of the week...Not much. Today hasn't been bad, but it hasn't been the best. I just feel...blah.
Here is a picture for thought I am sharing...We got snow this weekend!! And not the ice like we got a couple weekends ago, but the kind of snow that is perfect for building a snowman, like Clark did. Here's a picture of his snowman, which he liked to call himself...
We actually made a grand total of four snowmen, I think, but this was the best looking one. Clark really did a good job, don't you think?

happy valentine's day!!

Happy Valentine's Day, blog readers!!
I definitely struggled with what to write for this post. Do I write something about waiting for my Prince Charming? Or how about my encounter with some guys down at the river that questioned my morals, since, because I don't have a boyfriend or even date for that matter, something must be wrong with me, right? Wrong.
Anyway, you can see I didn't pick any of the above options, simply because I didn't feel that God really wanted me to, at this moment. I felt that He was saying, "Be different. Don't focus on the fact that you have chosen not to date. There are plenty of those 'waiting for Prince Charming' posts, so go with something light, not some deep, theological stuff." So, instead I will leave you with the pretty black and white photo with a verse that really helped by stand firm in my decision not to date...
Song of Songs 3:5
"Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you...Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires."

monthly makeover 1

(This was written last Thursday, but I didn't get it approved until today.)
How do you like my new look? I love it; not too Valentine's that it can't be left up for awhile, but the big red bows show that I'm not boycotting the holiday or anything. Read on for the explanation which prompted the background change.
I stumbled across Davene's blog via Meredith's a while back. I quickly added it to our family's bookmark page and checked it every day, especially when the impending arrival of her fourth son, Shav, was due any day.
But before Shav and all the cuteness that he brings the blog, she always had THE cutest backgrounds. That paired with a monthly background change pretty much makes the her blog the best one out there.
And so the idea of a monthly blog "makeover", if you will, popped into my head when I saw her oh-so-pretty Valentine's Day background. Seriously, the way she paired to off white-ish colors with the pictures of her husband, Jeff, is awesome. I'm a real matchy-matchy type person so I love things that pick up colors and stuff like that.
I'm hoping that this post will prompt some comments. Let me know that you read my blog by commenting, and the best part, you don't have to a blog to comment! But even if you do, that doesn't mean don't leave a comment. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think!

the simple woman's daybook...a day late!

I'm so sorry, dear readers!! A forgotten assignment that was due today lead to tears and frustration on my part. Finishing this post was the last thing on my mind.
It's Monday Tuesday, so you know what that means!! The second installment of the Simple Woman's Daybook is here. Read on, fellow bloggers, to see what I'm doing today...
For today...February 9th, 2010.
Outside my window...It's dark out. And raining. Again. Ever hear of a rain dance? Well, I'm tempted to make up and anti-rain dance and put on a show for the parents. Who knows, they're so sick and tired of the rain they just might join in too!
I am thinking...That the rain isn't helping improve my mood.
I am thankful for...Let me think. Well, I haven't had a good day, but it wasn't horrible either. Let's just go with that.
From the learning rooms...School, school and more school. I can't believe I have eight more years of it, if I decide to go to a four year college.
From the kitchen...Not much is cookin'. Just some leftover soup for supper, which was really good, by the way.
I am wearing...My pj's. Not my brown and pink flannel ones, though, but an equally warm pair. Earlier today I was wearing my skinny jeans, white tank top, green sweater, my favorite cross necklace (which also happens to be my only one!), and my trusty ol' Sperry's.
I am going...to be home tomorrow. Thursday I'll leave the house around 7:30 and not get back until close to 9:00. Friday warrants another trip into town for biology co-op. Then home I shall stay...until Sunday, at least. Church and a "Simply Sweet" Valentine's Day party will fill up the latter part of the weekend.
I am reading...Just Give Me Jesus by Anne Graham Lotz. Plus school reading, a lot of it.
I am creating...Not much, actually. I really need to get my creative juices flowing and create something.
I am hoping...That I can get some good sleep tonight.
I am hearing...The rain on the tin roof. It's more like a drizzle now, though. I'm hoping that it will still be around to lull me to sleep tonight.
Around the house...Everyone's just relaxing after a long day.
One of my favorite things...talking to my lovely friend, Emily, like I did this afternoon. I hope I brought a little sunshine to her day, like she always does to me when I'm feeling down.
A few plans for the rest of the week...busy, busy me! Lots of CBS related things, but I'm looking forward to the weekend!
A picture for thought I am sharing...Blogger's being slow and not uploading quick enough for me. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

simple woman's daybook for feb. 1st

I'm all about those blog-about-certain-things-on-certain-days-of-the-week things, like Wordless Wednesday and other variations. When Emily posted The Simple Woman's Daybook last week, it occurred to me that I have a blog now and since I do, I can participate in all these fun carnivals that I've been reading all those months as a non-blogger. I'm quick like that. And so concludes my introduction to my first-ever Simple Woman's Daybook. On to the good stuff!
For today...February 1st, 2010. Is it really two months into the new year?
Outside my window...Melted snow that's about to re-freeze tonight. The winter storm definitely lived up to the meteorologists expectations.
I am thinking...that there's only 23 mins. until Chuck comes on. Better hurry up and finish this post!
I am thankful for...the fact that I actually finished all my schoolwork for today. It's a rare occurence when I do finish all the assignments; something usually gets pushed back until there's just no time left to do it.
From the learning rooms...school, school, school! The holidays are over and we're back in the swing of things. And it only took us a month to get back on track.
From the kitchen...All the dishes are cleaned up and brownies with ice cold milk await us for when Chuck is on. Yum!
I am wearing...My flannel brown and pink PCC PJ's. So warm and an added plus: they're flannel! Wait, I already mentioned that. But seriously, I really love me some flannel jammies.
I am creating...This Simple Woman's Daybook post.
I am going...to be home most of the week. I haven't been anywhere since Thurs. and I'm going a little stir crazy with no one except my school books to keep me company.
I am reading...Just Give Me Jesus by Anne Graham Lotz. She's writing about the Book of John this time, which is perfect considering I'm involed in Teen CBS and they're studying, you guessed it! The Book of John! She's one of my favorite authors.
I am hoping...that I have time to do my Wii Fit Plus test before Chuck. That's the one thing that I never got the chance to do!
I am hearing...myself typing. Clickety-clackety.
Around the house...everything's cleaned up. I love a clean house at the end of the day.
One of my favorite things...Chuck! I'm sensing a pattern here. Take a wild guess, why don't you?
A few plans for the rest of the week: Not much. Just CBS, both women's and teen, and baby-sitting. Maybe something on Friday, but I'm not sure.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
(A re-do of the attempted shoe in the snow picture. It was sleeting in my face so I exactly see very well.)
