worship music wednesday

Ya'll. This is probably my most favorite Christmas song EVER. I heard it on the radio yesterday for the first time this season and basically cried. Yes, I'm emotional and no, I'm not sorry for getting choked up about my Savior coming to Earth as a little baby.

Even though you can clearly understand the words, I'm posting the lyrics because I think they stand alone and tell a story without the music.

Hold on now, I gotta take a deep breath
I don`t know what to say when I look in your eyes
You made the world before I was born
Here I am holding you in my arms tonight
Noel, noel, Jesus our Emmanuel

You`re here, I`m holding you so near
I`m starring into the face of my Savior, King and Creator
You could`ve left us on our own, but you`re here

Don`t know how long I`m gonna have you for
But I`ll be watching when you change the world
I look at your hand, they`re still so small
Someday you`re going to stretch them out and save us all
Noel, noel, God with us Emmanuel

You`re here, I`m holding you so near

I`m staring into the face of my Savior, King and Creator
They could`ve left us on our own, but you`re here you`re here
someday I`m gonna look back on this

The night that God became a baby boy
Someday you're gonna go home again,
But you leave your spirit and flood the world with joy

You`d be here, I`m holding you so near

I`m staring into the face of my Savior, King and Creator
They could`ve left me on my own, but you`re here you`re here
Hallelujah you`re here hallelujah
You`re here

Happy Wednesday readers! I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas season so far.

worship music wednesday {laura story}

Remember Worship Music Wednesday?! Oh my, that was sooo long ago. I'm happy to say I'm ressurecting it for this week to share with ya'll one of favorite Christian singers, Laura Story!

Ya'll, I have a SIGNED COPY OF A CD FROM LAURA STORY!! I have never had anything autographed before so this is huge for me...as evidenced by my capital lettering up above, ha! Never mind the fact that it's signed to my mom {see the Miss Melanie?}, I listen to it the most so that makes it MINE, right?! Right.

See?! I'm so excited!!

I first heard Laura Story's song "Blessings" before I ever knew who she was. It was one of those times that I listened to a million times and always missed the radio DJ say the name of the artist. I'm not alone in my plight, I know ;)

Little did I know, I was much closer to Laura Story than I realized...my mom is friends with her sister, Miss Catherine!! It's like the seven degrees of Kevin Bacon, except it's Laura Story and it's more like 3 degrees. Imagine my surprise when Mama came up to me & handed me a CD one day, saying "Miss Catherine has had this all summer for us! Let's play it." And so we did. Over & over & over again.

What would a Worship Music Wednesday post be without some YouTube vids of my favorite songs?! Not a good one, am I right?

My number one fave: This is the Day

A couple of my favorites...It's hard to pick because all the songs are amazing. You should totally buy the CD or download it on iTunes.

And this song will forever be Miss Molly's song: Blessings {I heard it the day she died & bawled like a baby with my friend Margret Katherine in WOL} because it was God that choose that song for me to hear that day. Amen? Amen.

What do ya'll think? Isn't she amazing?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

No one is compensating me for this post, ya'll. I'm simply sharing an amazing singer that I enjoy listening to, that's all. I hope you listen to her songs & grasp the message the same way I do! She is such a talented & inspiring woman {her husband had a brain tumor} & I would DIE if I ever met her.

Heard this song on the way home yesterday and remembered why Brandon Heath is one of my favorite Christian singers. Actually, it might have been when I heard "Wait and See" or "I'm Not Who I Was", but I'm not telling! If you haven't ever heard any of Brandon's songs, just go on over to YouTube and see what you're missing out on.

(Even though it has the lyrics on the screen, plain as day, and just like most of the videos I do for WMW, I'm put them at the bottom. You know, because I'm nice. :)

Love is not proud
Love does not boast
Love after all
Matters the most

Love does not run
Love does not hide
Love does not keep
Locked inside

Love is the river that flows through
Love never fails you

Love will sustain
Love will provide
Love will not cease
At the end of time

Love will protect
Love always hopes
Love still believes
When you don’t

Love is the arms that are holding you
Love never fails you

When my heart won’t make a sound
When I can’t turn back around
When the sky is falling down
Nothing is greater than this
Greater than this

Love is right here
Love is alive
Love is the way
The truth the life

Love is the river than flows through
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love is the place you will fly to
Love never fails you

(I know Lauren featured a Lincoln Brewster song last week, but since my choice for this week'a WMW isn't the same, I figured I'm not breaking any unspoken rules or anything.)
Mama and I love this song, and it took me forever to hear the baby's heartbeat on the radio, but I finally did yesterday on the way home. It's so cool that he figured out a way to put his son's heartbeat in his song.

Surely children weren't made for the streets
And Fathers were not made to leave
Surely this isn't how it should be
Let Your kingdom come

Surely nations were not made for war
Or the broken and due to be ignored
Surely this couldn't be what You saw
Let Your kingdom come
Here in my heart

(Chorus)
And I will live to carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be your hands and feet
And I will give with the life that I've been given
And go beyond religion to see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name
The power of Your Name

Surely life wasn't made to regret
And the lost were not made to forget
Surely faith without action is dead
Let Your Kingdom come
Lord break this heart

Jesus Your Name
Is a shelter for the hurting
Your Name
Is a refuge the weak
Only Your Name
Can take the undeserving
Jesus Your Name
Holds everything I need

I'm really into ukulele (or whatever that instrument is that makes me feel like I'm at the beach) sounding music right now, so when I heard this song, I fell in love. It doesn't help that I'm also in love with Train's Hey Soul Sister. :)
(As always, make sure you turn off my playlist before you click the play button on the video below!)

You say love is just a word,
just four letters in a row.
Just a thing that people say,
or they never tell you so.
And you use every excuse, to let nobody in.
Now this cloud you bring around, has become your only friend.
And everybody saying that it's going to go away,
But it dont go.
And everybody's telling you one day it's going to change,
But you don't know.
If it's really going to end.
(Chorus)
But there is a way,
There is a spark,
There is a hope that you can hold on to.
There is a life line come to the rescue,
Just like a hand that's waiting for you.
And if you beleive in this I promise that you won't be alone.
There is a way, the truth, and the life, and the way.
What if love became a man, If the word had flesh and bone.
Would you recognize his face, If he came to bring you home?
You think you're all alone, Gotta do it on your own riding solo.
Is there someone you can call when you stumble and fall? Cause you don't know, If you'll be getting up again.

 (Chorus)

Don't you think your life's worth saving? Don't you know that love's amazing?
Don't you want to lay your troubles down?
Lay them down.
If I thought love was just a word,
I might feel the same way too.
But theres so much more than that,
And it's waiting here for you.

 (Chorus)

There is a way,
There is a way!
There is a way.
Come on, there is a way.
There is a way,
There is a way.

Side note: this post was backtracked. It might be because I'm so OCD about some things, or maybe...yeah, I can't think of another reason. :)
On to the good, musical stuff...
Fist pump to you, Casting Crowns. Another winner, and apparently our local radio station loves you too, because your latest song is on at least twice a day. Bravo, but we really can't expect anything less, because you always crank out songs that are so appropriate and hit close to home.

Hear our cry, Lord we pray,
Our faces down, our hands are raised,
You called us out, we turned away, we’ve turned away.

With ship wrecked faith, idols rise,
We do what is right, in our own eyes,
Our children now, will pay the price,
We need Your light, Lord, shine Your light.

If we’ve ever needed You, Lord, it’s now, Lord, it’s now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we’re reachin’ out, we’re reachin’ out.

All our hearts, all our strength,
With all our minds, we’re at Your fate,
May Your Kingdom come, in our hearts and lives,
Let Your Church arise, let Your Church arise!

If we’ve ever needed You, Lord, it’s now, Lord, it’s now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we’re reachin’ out, we’re reachin’ out, we’re reachin’ out

If we’ve ever needed You, Lord, it’s now, Lord, it’s now,
We’re are desperate for Your hand, we’re reachin’ out, we’re reachin’ out,
If we’ve ever needed You, Lord, it’s now, Lord, it’s now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we’re reachin’ out, we’re reachin’ out

We need You now
Revive us now
We need You now

I'm slowly coming out of my WMW rut, but it's not totally gone, so I'm sticking to some of the oldies again this week. I actually found a live version of the song, so I wanted to share it with you guys. To me, the true test to see if a singer is a good one is to listen to them in concert or actually in a live performance, and this artist does a pretty good job! Mama and I heard another one of her songs on the radio last Sunday, and she even commented on how broad her range is; how she could go down low and relatively high also.
(As always, make sure you turn off my playlist before clicking the play button on the videos!)

I am staring at these empty walls
Wondering when You'll visit me again
When will You come?
If there is anything at all
Coming in between our love
Please show me, cuz I am barely hanging on

Can anybody hear me?
The silence is deafening
Why do You feel so far away?
When I know You're here with me
But I just need faith to see
Nothing can separate me from Your love

Believing what I can't see
Has never come naturally to me
And I've got questions
But I am certain of a Love
Strong enough to hold me when I am doubting
You'll never let go of my hand

Can anybody hear me?
The silence is deafening
Why do You feel so far away?
When I know You're here with me
But I just need faith to see
Nothing can separate me from Your love

I will trust in You, even in the moments
I can't find you, and I will hold on to
Your promises of love
You've never failed before

I know You can hear me
When the silence is deafening
Even though You seem far away
And I know You're here with me
But I just need faith to see
Nothing can separate me from Your love
And the live version:

As hard as it is to admit this, I'm going ahead and saying it...I'm still in that WMW rut. I toyed with the idea of totally skipping this week and offering an apology in my "Almost Wordless Wednesday" installment for this week, which took me forever to decide what to do for it.
So, after my lengthy attempt at trying to explain why I'm going with the classics this week, how about I leave you with the songs and lyrics, okay? Sometimes the classics are just as good as the newer songs...
FYI, both of these songs are on my playlist, so if you're not sasitfied with the quality of the videos, just click the pause button and scroll down down to the bottom of the page to listen to them. Also, make sure you turn off the playlist before listening to the songs, else Sugarland might being blaring out of your speakers!

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

(Chorus)
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

(Chorus)
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
(x2)

(Chorus)
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

worship music wednesday

I'm still in a blogging funk of sorts, and I'm still in that WMW rut, which isn't helping my creative juices flow. At all. So, needless to say, I'm still on the search for a song that really speaks to me, but for now, here's a song that was one of my faves. Not to say that it isn't anymore, but it was moved down from my top five...

(Ignore the cheesiness of the video, please. I'm guessing that the person who did this was amateur, but I'm sure that I couldn't have done any better.)
The Lord your God is with you
Hes is mighty to save
He will take great delight in you
He will quiet you with His love

He will rejoice over you with singing
He will rejoice over you with His song
He will rejoice over you with singing
He will rejoice over you with His song

And through the night (in your darkest hour)
When you are tired (and you've lost all hope)
He will hold you tight

He will rejoice over you with singing
He will rejoice over you with His song
And, just in case you've never heard of the verse that this song is based off of, here it is...
"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
Side note: As soon as I opened my Bible to look up the verse, I felt peace come over me. All I can say is...nothing. :) For once in a long time, I'm speechless...

worship music wednesday

I'm way late in posting this...not necessarily late as in days late, though. I usually have them written out, proofread, and scheduled my Monday, maybe Tuesday at the latest. For some reason, I couldn't find a song I liked, which is pretty weird, considering that I had a hard time deciding which one to do a couple weeks back. I even thought about doing three songs at a time, but my practical side nipped that idea in the bud.
All that to say, I'm not thrilled with my choice for this week's Worship Music Wednesday. I keep thinking at even though the song might have spoken to me before, but doesn't now, isn't all that bad. Maybe, just maybe, God prompted me to post this because he needed to speak to someone through me. And I couldn't be happier about it...

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

Go HERE to watch the official music video for the song. Don't even get me started on the whole YouTube disabling the embed feature on half the songs I like. I'd rather not write a letter to them again, like I did HERE, partly because I know I wouldn't be as nice to them as I was when I wrote it the first time.

worship music wednesday

This song has gotten a lot of air time lately, and it's quickly become one of Clark's and I's favorites. Unfortunately, I can't find a official music video, but there were many other video submitted by YouTube users. I picked out the prettiest one. :)

Separated until the veil was torn
The moment that hope was born
And guilt was pardoned once and for all

Captivated but no longer bound by chains
Left at an empty grave
The sinner and the sacred resolved

(Chorus)
And all of creation sing with me now
Lift up your voice and lay your burden down
And all of creation sing with me now
Fill up the heavens let his glory resound

Time has faded and we see him face to face
Every doubt erased forever we will worhip the king

(Repeat chorus)

ohh ah ohhh...ohh ah ohhh

The reason we breathe is to sing of his glory
And for all he has done
Praise the father, praise the son, and the spirit in one

(Repeat chorus 2x)

And every knee will bow oh and every tongue praise the father praise the son and the spirit in one

Make sure you leave a comment at Lauren's letting her know you're participating, although I'm pretty sure she and I are the only ones doing it. Hey, Mckmama had to start somewhere, right?

5/5/10

worship music wednesday

This week's Worship Music Wednesday song has been getting a lot of air time on the radio station we listen to, even though it's a relatively older song. Why is it that every one of my favorite songs has been released for, like, a year before I even know what the name is? Google has become my best friend when I need to find the name of a song, and I'm thinking of getting a Swagbucks account, because I think I could rack up some serious points with all the song searching I do. Does anyone that reads my blog have an account? Is it worth it, or is it just a way for another site to get hold of your personal info?
On to the song! Don't forget to turn off the music at the bottom of my page, so some Michael Buble song doesn't come blaring out when your trying to listen to this song! I totally meant to tell you guys that last week, but I forgot. And let's not talk about my really outdated playlist, okay? :)

Everybody falls sometimes

Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do

It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
Out on the water
It’ll be alright
Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
You will find your way
If you keep believing

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do

Overcome the odds
You don't have a chance
(That’s what faith can do)
When the world says you can’t
It’ll tell you that you can!

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
That's what faith can do!
Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise

Make sure you leave a comment over at Lauren's  place so she can see what song you've picked, if you choose to post one. Also, go HERE to see the official music video for the song. For some unknown reason, YouTube has decided to disable the embed code for music videos, so I can't post the awesome music videos that go with the awesome songs I pick out!
Dear YouTube,
I am so totally not a fan of your decision to disable the code to embed a video. That is all!
Simply,

worship music wenesday

Here I go with blogging about certain things on certain days of the week again...
I found this one over on Lauren's, and since worshiping God through music is just about the best thing ever (in my book, at least!), I so jumped onto the bandwagon. As far as I know, she and I are the only ones who are doing it, so feel free to join in. You don't have to do two like I did, but it's fine if you'd like!

Don’t know how it is You looked at me
And saw the person that I could be
Awakening my heart
Breaking through the dark
Suddenly Your grace

(Chorus)
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so
Beautiful, beautiful

Now there’s a joy inside I can’t contain
But even perfect days can end in rain
And though it’s pouring down
I see You through the clouds
Shining on my face

(Chorus)

I have come undone
But I have just begun
Changing by Your grace

(Chorus)

At twenty years of age I'm still looking for a dream
A war's already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see

(Chorus)
‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right, and I'd make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt

(Chorus)

And you’re free to be you

Sometimes I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe
Even though

(Chorus)
