gingerbread house party

Ever since I can remember {wow, that sounds totes cliche}, we've made gingerbread houses. To take it a step further, the Nichols, our family, and a few others have had a gingerbread house party at the Cortright's as well. It's always full of friends, fellowship, and candy. Oh, so much sugar.

Last year we didn't do a party, but did our gingerbread decorating at our respective houses. But. This year we hosted at OUR house, complete with roaring fire and homemade hot chocolate simmering in the crockpot. We were so excited to have the Nichols and the Furloughs come out and join us last Saturday. We missed you, Cortright family!

Gingerbread house bokeh! Mind? Blown.
Some of the materials we had to decorate...

On to the decorating!

Emily's house in the works.

Nate & Josh's little dog. So cute <3

Clark's house.
The finished houses, two hours later:

Andrew's

Clark's

Blurry, I know but I couldn't leave Nate & Josh's house out.

Elizabeth & Trey's.

Mine. People, I spent an HOUR alone on the epic gingerbread house fence of 2011.
The end scene. Coconut everywhere and icing decoating not only the houses but our clothes but many memories made!

We ended the afternoon with a short game of football & my special hot chocolate with red velvet cupcakes and snickerdoodles. A pretty good combo, don't you think?

Happy Saturday, readers!

  2. Wow, how fun!!

My favorite features are the pretzel stuff: Emily's roof, Andrew's sidewalk, your fence, etc. Very nicely done!

So...the big question...do you ever eat the gingerbread houses later? Or are they just for show? :)

  3. By the way, is your blog design supposed to include a header? Because if so, it's not showing up on my computer. Of course, that could be my computer's fault...I never claimed to have the smartest computer on the block. ;-)
