Regeneration {2012}

Ya'll. As I said to my friend Hannah, there are not enough surfer words (ya know, righteous, epic, gnarly, rad, etc) to describe how amazing Regeneration this past weekend was. I sang my heart out, cheered until my throat was sore, and worshipped the Lord with all my friends. Nothing compares.

The day started with a last minute plug at the local mall, where we were supposed to just wander around aimlessly because we couldn't hand out our flyers. Or even talk about Regeneration, in fact. The mall security was all over us...at one point, when we were about to leave, we were standing outside with our extra flyers, bracelets, etc and a cop approached us. And stuck around until we went back inside. It was creepy and awkward...but mostly awkward.

After the mall, I went to Margret Katherine's house and we talked the afternoon away. I also ate a donut, which was amazing and gave me the sugar burst I needed.

Then, around 5, the party got started. First thing I did was retrieve camera from Abbey (she kept my baby safe since I left it on the bus) and go take pictures of the gym, which was set up AMAZING, by the way. Way to go to everyone who helped!

MK...I happen to love her. A lot.

I wasn't the only one taking pictures...Emily had her camera & Abbey's was on the way.

FRANDDSSS. Sorry for the obxinous captial letters and weird spelling, but I love my friends so much, ya'll. Seriously, WOL has blessed in so many ways but the friends I've made are definitely the biggest blessing of all. You know, besides God becoming my best friend and all. Priorities.

MK and I. I promise I don't have one side of blonde hair on my head or that my neck really looks like that OR my face is that pale. Lighting. Ugh.

As if I hadn't had enough sugar, there was Dr. Pepper there. I almost busted a gut.

One of the cool things about Regeneration is that there are door prizes for the non-WOLifers. Thus, all the tickets were collected and drawn throughout the night. Some people won giftcards, actual cash, and the top winners won a scholarship to camp! Jealous.

Mr. Chuck did a great job of welcoming everyone and handing out door prizes.

Scott did an amazing job of a Florida rainstorm...in NC. Props to him for doing in with three groups instead of four.

Onto the music! As much as I love Bru-Bru (Bruno Mars for those that aren't his friends...yes, I live in a fantasy world) I love the WOL songs even more.

More door prizes, presented by Vanna White (Annagrace)
More music! Yay!

Between songs, some of the band members shared their stories. One of my favorite parts of any WOL event.

After an amazing message from the famed Brandon Arnold, 7 people dedicated their lives to Christ. SEVEN. And then there was more music.

Confession: after Regeneration was over I basically cried. Truth. The 7 people that were saved was probably why I was teary-eyed. Or maybe it was the fact I had to say goodbye to my Jamesville WOL friends. Or maybe I was just hungry. I've been known to get emotional when my stomach is growling.

Moral of the story post? My youth group is amazing and we put on even-more-amazing concerts.

it's the little things {link up #5}

One of the most gorgeous and talented blogging women you'll ever met, Lindsay, started hosting a link up called "It's the Little Things" to remind us that God blesses in a not-so big ways. A whole day can turn around when I get a special little something in the mail or my favorite show is on TV that night, and it's great to document the little things God puts in our day to show us he loves us!

Aisle to Aloha

...unexpected visits from the Bolands to our WOL group. Bear hugs were given and lots of talking happened. Love that family so much!
...on that note, surprise phone calls from Hannah at 10 at night asking for MY advice on something. SO honored she thinks I have it all together. NOT, ha.
...a Snickers for dessert from Mama just because.
...warm days & cool nights. The best weather is when I can go barefoot during the day and snuggle under the down comforter at night. Not winter weather for sure, but a nice change up.
...the puppy having more good days than bad. Hallelujah!

Happy Friday, readers! I hope you've had the blessing of seeing God work in your life through the little things.

nichols afternoon

Last Thursday, we trekked over to Emily & Andrew's house for an afternoon of much-needed, quality, friend-bonding time. Check and respect my awesome adjective usage.

Lots of chocolate animal crackers were consumed...

Seriously, SO good. Buy some and eat half a bag like we did.
...pictures were taken...

So proud of this girl...she is learning SO much about her camera and it's settings.
...and the longest Life for Wii game ever. Seriously, it was wayyy too long. This picture of Andrew (below) accurately describes just HOW long this game lasted.
Clark's words as we took this photo? "Don't censor me!" In regards to SOPA, of course. He's so funny!
HAHAHA.

Of course the highly anticipated revealing of our spouses were photograhed. Because DUDE, the Wii picks cray-cray looking hubbies/wifies for us. Take a look!

Clark & his wife. The glasses kill me.

Andrew and his manly, pigailed wife.

Excuse the blown out picture...was trying to take a picture of my ::ahem:: husband that had DREADLOCKS.

Funny story: when Emily was the last one to get married, we all crossed our fingers that she wouldn't get an Asian husband because poor girl ALWAYS ends up with that guy. As soon as the words were outta her mouth, there he was, almond eyes and all! We howled with laughter. (nothing against Asians...we just revel in the fact that she & an Asian seem to be meant for each other in Wii land)
We are huge techies! It was so hilarious because when it wasn't our turn playing Wii, we were playing Words with Friends, checking emails/FB, or even sending the occasional text.

About halfway through the endless Life game, we got hungry (AGAIN) and then Emily and I decided to

Are you ready for the awesomeness?! I don't think you are. But, watch at your own risk...there is serious hip action (me, much to my dismay) and head bobbing (Clark). Just watch.

Cupid Shuffle! from Emily N. on Vimeo.

HAHAHA. Ya'll. I can't watch that video without laughing my head off. Are we rockin' or are we rockin'?! Also, you're welcome for me getting that song stuck in your head.

After the Life game ended, I had a couple "little" projects that I was expecting to take an hour tops...ended up taking ALL the rest of the time, besides an hour out of the time for dinner and a CHUCK episode. Pictures to come!

Turning 70's bell bottom jeans into skinny jeans. Just as easy as pin, sew, cut, admire!
Many hours & fits of laughter later, we went home with sweet memories. Thanks for having us guys!

one foggy morning

Last Thursday we have quite the early morning drive. I mean, when you can't see more than 20 yards, things start to get interesting. Everyone becomes a backseat driver and you basically take a leap of faith & trust that we you're not pulling out in front of a car.

Foggy mornings are a lot like my life lately. New phenomenons, like new friends that turned out to be soulmates and some not so welcome changes in other friendships. God's got a plan, and we just have to cling to Him to be able to see through the fogginess.

Happy Thursday, friends. Rejoice! God's given you another week on this earth. Let's praise Him to together, mkay?
