worship music wednesday

(I know Lauren featured a Lincoln Brewster song last week, but since my choice for this week'a WMW isn't the same, I figured I'm not breaking any unspoken rules or anything.)
Mama and I love this song, and it took me forever to hear the baby's heartbeat on the radio, but I finally did yesterday on the way home. It's so cool that he figured out a way to put his son's heartbeat in his song.

Surely children weren't made for the streets
And Fathers were not made to leave
Surely this isn't how it should be
Let Your kingdom come

Surely nations were not made for war
Or the broken and due to be ignored
Surely this couldn't be what You saw
Let Your kingdom come
Here in my heart

(Chorus)
And I will live to carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be your hands and feet
And I will give with the life that I've been given
And go beyond religion to see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name
The power of Your Name

Surely life wasn't made to regret
And the lost were not made to forget
Surely faith without action is dead
Let Your Kingdom come
Lord break this heart

Jesus Your Name
Is a shelter for the hurting
Your Name
Is a refuge the weak
Only Your Name
Can take the undeserving
Jesus Your Name
Holds everything I need

almost wordless wednesday: mickey d's

My latest frozen drink obession is a Mocha Frappe from, wait for it...McDonald's. I know, I know; I'm more of a Sonic or Wendy's kind of girl, but you have to try new things sometime. Samantha can atest to my love for all things frozen, even though it really hurts my sensitive teeth to drink and eat cold things. Nothing can stop me from , well, stopping myself, though. Self-control, SA, self-control...

Yum! As my pastor would say: "That was tasty goodness right there." Right you are, Mr. Stewart. In fact, it's tasty goodness in a cup, which kinda makes it better, actually

ff challenge day 3

Clark was so sweet to take my pictures today, and he took some really great ones. In fact, I was really surprised at how well they turned out! Maybe I should let him pick up the camera more often. I can't even pick a favorite...

Outfit specs…
Shirt: Green tissue t-shirt from Target for $5. I’m trying to add some more color, preferably solids, so when I found these on sale, I jumped at them. I think I even got two…
Tank top: Still that old, ratty, stained one I’ve been wearing. It’s got a million stains, but as long as I wear a shirt over it, I’m good to go.
Skirt: The same one I’ve worn for all my white skirt pictures. Hey, it’s the only white skirt I have, but at least I mix up the shirts a little!
Shoes: Man, I need some new things. Just slipped on my Speedo flip-flops before we ran out the door this morning. Well, at least they’re black instead of brown.
Hair and Jewelry: Not a lot of time this morning to mess around with my hair, so I just blow-dried it and left it down. As for my jewelry, I’m afraid it’s the same necklace as always. Sorry for not having a little variety in my accessories, readers.
Make sure to link up over at Emily's place so all the participants can see all your summery outfits, and so I can learn how to accessorize.

ff challenge days 1 and 2

Thanks for understanding about my not blogging the first day of the Challenge, readers!
I tried to stick with the whole red, white, and blue thing, but I honestly don't have anything red that was okay to wear to church, so I stuck with blue and white. I was really surprised at the number of people there who weren't wearing those colors...
Side note: I wore two different shirts yesterday. I felt like the first was to dressy to wear to the fireworks show, so I changed after all the swimming and eating was over. Just thought you should know! :)
Day 1's outfit...
I had to snap one with Mama. Isn't she so pretty?! Those blue eyes kill me...or maybe it's because I didn't get them.
Outfit 1 specs:
Shirt: $4 from a second-hand store. It's a Liz Claborne, ya'll, and I was so excited to find a real bargain. Sometimes you have to sift all through ragged, worn out clothes at those kind of stores, and that's just not my thing.
Tank top: My trusty ol' $5 tank top. It's about to be retired, though.
Skirt: I've worn it for the Challenge before, but here's the details again. Actually, I can't remember! I know it was on sale at JCPenny's , maybe somewhere around half off. Look through my archives if your really interested.
Shoes: Brown Speedo's from the local Sam's Club. $15, I think, but don't hold me to it. My memory seems to be faulty lately.
Hair and Jewelry: Mama French-braided my hair, and she did a really good job, too! My only piece of jewelry is my college cross necklace and a ponytail holder bracelet.
And here's what I wore to the fireworks. I was sooo comfy in it, actually.

Outfit 2 specs...
Shirt: Brand spanking new, ya'll! I got it the day before (Saturday) the Challenge started, and I've defintely got my money's worth, even though I've worn it one time, since it was only $3.
Tank top, skirt, shoes, hair and jewelry: All the same from earlier, although I did change my hairstyle into a ponytail. Chlorine is not my friend, even though I spend half of the day in there. It's a good thing I'm not a blonde...
Finally, we're at today's outfit! I thought this post would never, ever, ever end...and I'm typing it.
No mirror picture is complete with a self portrait now that I have a DSLR. Heads up, guys, because I'm sure I'll have plenty to show you.
Dad snapped these after I saw the mirror ones. They just weren't cutting it for me, so I made, er, asked him nicely to dry off (he and Clark were in the pool) and come take a few. Thanks Dad!
So serious, SA. What can you be thinking about? :)
Day 2 outfit specs...
Dress: Pink and purple plaid one from Kohl's. I know it was on sale, but I have no idea how much it was. $15, maybe?
Shoes: None! I did slip on my Speedo's, but other than that, I was barefoot the whole day.
Hair and Jewelry: My usual, at home hairdo. Brushed straight back and twisted in a bun type thing. Not pretty , but it gets the job done. Just my necklace for today, though. I think my ponytail bracelet was used for my hair, like it's supposed to be. :)
Phew, I'm done! Thanks to Emily and her really cool Linky thing, linking up is even easier. Leave a comment when you drop by and I'm sure you'll make her day.

simple woman's daybook for july 5th

Alright, guys, you know the drill! Another Monday means another Simple Woman's Daybook, so head on over to Peggy's to read up on all the rules and regulations, then come back and type up your own post, link up and...volia! You've just participated in the blog carnival that is known as The Simple Woman's Daybook. I don't care if spell check thinks that "Daybook" isn't really a word; I'm still going with it.

For today...July 5th, 2010. What's better than a 3-day weekend? Well, that would be a 3-day holiday weekend, thank you very much.
Outside my window...Nothing much has changed. The blinds are closed, along with the air conditioning on full blast. That's Eastern NC for you, folks.
I am thinking...About how well I'm sleep tonight, even though I slept in today. A nap didn't really help me, but I'm looking forward to not having to get up early tomorrow.
I am thankful for...Friends who make me laugh and good food to eat while laughing at said friends. This weekend was just what the Dr. ordered.
From the learning rooms...Math has taken a turn for the worst. The only thing that's keeping me going is the fact that you can do Geometry in between Algebra 1 and 2. If Geometry is going to be even the slightest bit harder, you might have to come get me and send me to math rehab.
From the kitchen...Leftovers all the way, although I made some Texas Caviar to go with the grilled chicken. Thumbs up to Dad for grilling some of the best chicken I've ever had.
I am wearing...Um, this is embarassing, but I'm in my bathing suit. I promise you'll get to see what I wore this morning in my FF Challenge post later tonight.
I am creating...The FF Challenge post! :) No, really...I had pictures uploading when I started writing this post.
I am going...To be in big trouble of I don't get off the computer soon! My time is almost up, and that's a very bad thing to have it run on mid-blog post.
I am reading...Almost done with my current book, so I'm open to hearing what you readers have been reading this summer. I'm sure our tastes in books are similar!
I am hoping...TO finish this post, along with another, before supper. In fact, I'm hoping to be more productive in my blogging time, because I always seem to run out of time reading my Google reader. Maybe I need to update my Summer with a Purpose list...
I am hearing...Mama and Clark talking over the nightly news. I'm sure I'll hear supper preparations soon, though.
Around the house...We're recovering from the weekend. Seems like we did twice as much work than necessary, but it was worth it because it meant we got to kick back and relax today.
One of my favorite things...Cookout food. I'm a uber healthy eater, but sometimes I really want a hot dog and chips to eat. Ever feel that way?
A few plans for the rest of the week...Odd things like working on CBS things, meeting with an advisor for my college classes this fall, baby-sitting, visiting with friends, and a whole lot of chores, I'm sure.
A picture for thought I am sharing...A little taste at what's to come for my 4th of July post! Enjoy...
