happy birthday hunt man!

{all pics circa labor day '10. good times}
Hunter. Hunt-Man. The ever-popular Dude or Cousin. Happy Birthday, guy of many names! All the guy cousins {Brock, Garrison and Clark} have always, and probably still will as they grow older, look up to you, and they couldn't have a better role model. You're such a nice, cool guy who let me take pictures of you and your guitar when we visited your family over the summer. P.S. Keep up the guitar thing. You're really good!
You've always been that cousin who was close in age but did everything before me. Took Driver's ED, started driving, turned that epic 16...today! So, happy birthday!

happy birthday gran jan!

 {thanksgiving 2010. the lastest pic i have of her, if you can believe it}
What to say, what to say? Happy birthday would be a nice start, don't you think? 75 birthdays means 75 birthday cakes and cards and happy birthday wishes and phone calls and emails and all that. But that's not what I want to say, much less write. What I want to say is: You are so willing to drop everything and go help one of your children, even thought they're "big" kids now. You're so so so generous with both your time and money {THANK YOU for all the Christmas presents/shopping trips, birthday presents/cards, and most of all...the 10 yr. old trip!!} and I truly hope I can be that way when I grow up.
WE LOVE YOU!

WIWW {my first}

Today I'm linking up with Lindsey for WIWW {What I Wore Wednesday}. Initially, it was started to keep Lindsey accountable and wear things {real clothes! gasp!} other than yoga pants and sweatshirts. Now it's blossomed into over 150+ bloggers joining in and sharing fashion tips/tricks for other WIWW particpants.
All the cool kids are doing it. GussyLisa LeonardKimMoriah, and Lindsey herself. I'm not one to buckle under the peer pressure, but I've jumped on the bandwagon. I think it's a great way to show you guys what I wear...without having to wear skirts for a week. ;) So...welcome to my 1st edition of WIWW.
Note: I "decided" to do this on the weekend. As in, on Sunday. Thus only two outfits...that weren't yoga pants {or, at the most, old jeans and a stretchy t-shirt}. I'm working on doing it every day, one week at a time...
{Sunday}

{Dress: Hand-me-Down from Emily}

{Sweater: Hand-me-Down from Linsday}

{Shoes: JCPenney's. So long ago...}

{Tuesday}
 Special thanks to Emily for taking these!!

{Sweater: Local thift shop. It's not cotton or anything, and it's uber soft, so I like to think it's some high-end sweater and it's fancy ;)}

{Jeans: Old Navy. Oh how I love thee...}

{Sperry's: Christmas gift from way, way, way back. They are very loved [as in, frayed threads and no shape to them anymore.]}
So there you have it...My first WIWW post. I honestly can't wait for next week!! :D
Happy middle of the week, readers!

scenes from a spring weekend

Ah, the weather here in Eastern NC over the couple of days has been GORGEOUS!! Highs in the mid-70's to 80's, and just all around perfect. God is so good! He knew we couldn't take this yucky weather any longer, so He blessed us with some weather to improve our moods! :)
Saturday was great, what with sleeping in and sewing with a friend {Miss Renee}, but it was nothing compared to Sunday. We stayed after church way later than we normally do talking to the Pastor and his wife, throwing the football in the playground and laughing. so. hard. at Sam and Caleb. Love those kids!
Once we'd had our fill of tossing the football, it was time for lunch, so we went out to eat {a rare treat} at Rucker John's, our fave sit-down restaurant. We even sat outside {an even rarer treat}! Of course, the camera came along and I snapped pictures of the pretty flowers outside in the planters, our food, and that who people say I look like... ;)

{pretty, no? i think i took more pictures of the than other things!}

{i'm behind the camera!! wow.}

{our food. dad and clark split a meat-lovers pizza and mama choose the grilled chicken sandwich for her and i. and, of course, the famous RJ fries were gobbled up!}

{all that was left. poor pizza. it didn't see it coming...}

After a quick run to Sam's {no Sunday is complete without one}, we headed home and sat outside for hours working on schoolwork {me}, talking about Spring Break and an upcoming trip for Mama {everyone}, and Clark even got into the pool {he stood on the steps for 2 bucks}. :)
And, as this post publishes, it's climbing out of the 30's and we're wearing sweaters and heavy winter coats. We just can't win with the weather where we live. Oh well, I'll take what I can get...
P.S. Happy March to you readers! Can you believe it?!
