historical ball 2011 {the dancing}

The 3rd and final installment of the Historical Ball 2011!! Finally, right?!

After the mini-portrait session in the parlor, we went in the main room where the ball was held and helped finish up the final touches. Sorry, no before pictures, but it was quite the transformation!! A huge kudos goes to Katie for thinking of the decor and coming up with great ideas pertaining to the placement of things in the room, along with all the people who helped set up: the Poppe's, Goodsons, Nichols, and my little ol' family.

Ready? Of course you are... ;)

The "trees", which were actually tomato cages. I know, right?! Genius.

The stage:

The entryway:

Sweet Emmylou, who was quite the photographer that night:

The punch table {oh look! there she is again. ;)}:

Lanterns adorned each and every table...

The decorating crew hung lights over the roll top buffet, which lead into the kitchen...

The food tables were in a great place this year {thanks to Miss Molly's placement}...

Looking at the dancing area from the back wall of the church...

Now you know what the room looked like!! So beautiful and elegant, no?

While we were waiting for the other committee members to arrive, I snapped pictures of some of my favorite people in the world. :)

OMG, this girl kills me with her prettiness each and every time I look at her...

Kaley was not a fan of the pictures. I almost slugged her, because she was just so pretty I NEEDED to take a picture of her...

And last, but not least {believe me}, a picture of our caller/dance instructor: Mr. Simon Spalding. History buff and dancing extraordinaire!!

All pictures are credit to Mama and Dad!! Thanks for manning the camera when I couldn't!!

Waiting in line with my bestie, starving and trying out almost everything in sight...

Clark, the punch man. He and Andrew were so sweet and helpful to the kitchen crew by handling the punch table, passing out cups of punch, cleaning up and such.

Sigh. I love my family. My sweet Mama and her little baby boy, along with my two favorite men in the whole wide world.

Apparently it was family picture time... ;)

Dancing time!! Oh yes.

 I laugh a lot when I dance to cover up for my bad dancing skills...

Clark and I got to dance everyone's all time favorite dance: the Gallopede. It made dancing with him even more special!!

Bad picture, but you get the idea: it's a fun dance. :)

Clark also got to dance with Brianne and Emily {pictured below}...

And a favorite of the night: these shoes.

So, now you know why I keep talking about the HB 2011. It's awesome. And if you haven't enough of the pictures, click HERE to see my bestie's post {with GREAT pictures} and HERE for Linsday's  pictures.

Happy Saturday, readers!! Wishing you a great Lord's Day tomorrow.

april fools day

Clever title, no? I mean, totally clever and original. NOT. :)

Aprils Fools Day is my nemesis; partly because I hate being pranked and I stink at pranking people back. BUT. That didn't stop my bestie, Emily, from pulling one over my head and believe me...it was a doozy. I told her that she better watch her back because I was going to prank her, and she was in a fit trying to figure out what I was going to do all day. Since my brain was fried and I couldn't think straight, I told her she's better look out next year because imma gonna get her!! ;)

And, since I'm all about blogging shout-outs, here's a couple of my favorite April Fools posts floating around in the blogosphere...

Also? Happy Birthday to my current blog header designer, Emily Joy!! It's her birthday today, which is awesome. But know what's even awesome-r? Her birthday is on April Fools. Double awesome!!

That concludes the most random post I've ever done.

WIWW {5}

Today I'm linking up with Lindsey for WIWW {What I Wore Wednesday}. Initially, it was started to keep Lindsey accountable and wear things {real clothes! gasp!} other than yoga pants and sweatshirts. Now it's blossomed into over 150+ bloggers joining in and sharing fashion tips/tricks for other WIWW particpants.
All the cool kids are doing it. GussyLisa LeonardKimMoriah, and Lindsey herself. I'm not one to buckle under the peer pressure, but I've jumped on the bandwagon. I think it's a great way to show you guys what I wear...without having to wear skirts for a week.
Another week, another WIWW! I absolutely love sharing my outfits with you, and it's definitely motivation to get dressed in actual clothes, whether I share them with you guys or not!  Make sure to check back next week because I have some AWESOME outfits up my sleeve... ;)

historcial ball {the portraits}

Note: I was going to save this post as part 3, but I've teased my readers WAY too much with little snippets of the dress HERE and HERE, so...forgive me? :)

After running through the rain and arriving at the church cold, wet, and slightly hungry, we helped bring food in, light lanterns and plugged in the lights. A tradition for the Nichols is to take pictures in the beautiful parlor area before all the other attendees arrive, so this year {since we were with them and all}, Clark and I got to have our pictures taken as well! Score!

The following pictures are in any order, which bugs me and my OCD habits to no end, but it was a free for all. Whoever was available to have their picture taken HAD their picture taken. Simple as that...

Clark and I:

 And proof that Clark is a wacko... ;)

My handsome little bro looking, well...handsome!

Dad's FB comment for this one? Lyons. Clark Lyons. Licensed to make you laugh.

 Apparently I only got ONE shot of the fellow's in their best attire. Sad face.

The girls...

Sisterly love!

The gorgeous Emily herself...

And the gorgeous Katie herself!

Sibling love {as if you couldn't tell they're related. ;)}...

 Miss Michele asked us to grab a couple pictures of Becca and Luke...and they were HILA-ROUS. Like bro, like sis.

And finally...the 2 photographers had their pictures taken...

Phew, 2 posts down, 1 to go! Next up is pictures of the actual ball, readers. :)
