purity ring

Remember when I mentioned I had purchased something on Etsy a couple Hello Mondays back? It came last Saturday. And "it" was my purity ring, purchased from DonnaODesigns!

I had been searching for a purity ring for awhile now...and the reason it took so long was I didn't want it to be the typical purity ring. I wanted it to be just a ring that symbolized what my single years meant to me. Therefore, that a ring that wasn't really considered a purity ring. Fast forward to ye ol' days of browsing Pinterest and I found this ring. Fast forward a couple months and I had enough monies to buy it. So I did!

Simple gold box and business card. Love.

Yep, it's on my right hand. My left ring finger is for my wedding ring only...just preference is all. I'm also that girl that wears her watch on her right arm.

Guys. It's so amazing. Inside it says now & forever (WITH an actual ampersand), which means a lot to me personally because I am a patient person. Normally. But I can't help but wonder what my future husband is doing right now and I find it pretty hard to be patient for the X amount of years I'll be single. Now all I have to do it twist that ring around my finger and I know God's in control.

Give DonnaODesigns some love...check out her Etsy shop here!

Speaking of things I received in the mail, my sweet VA friend Emily sent me one of her gorgeous photos in the mail this week! Thanks girl!

Hangin' out on my beside table until I can get it a frame of it's own.

It's 11/11/11. I think this pin pretty much explains why it's such an awesome day.

Happy Friday readers! Don't forget to have fun and make a silly little wish at 11:11AM {or PM for you night owls like me}.

fall bucket list 2011

It's no secret I love Fall. Like, really LOVE Fall.

It's also no secret that there are plenty of fall bucket lists floating around on my beloved Pinterest. You know what's also not a secret? I'm kinda sorta a perfectionist and instead of using one of those beautiful PDF files you can download with a click of a button, I'm writing out my own list because those other lists didn't have everything I wanted on them. Yeah, I like to do things the hard way in order not a compromise sometimes.

Without further ado, here's my Fall Bucket List, to be accomplished before the end of November {or at least as long as it doesn't snow because let's be honest: that's a more realistic goal for me}.

{Bake Pumpkin Cookies}

If there is one thing that I want people to know me for after I die, it's my pumpkin cookies...second to being a Christian, duh. I love my Jesus and don't doubt that for a second. But! Pumpkin cookies are amazing and I've tweaked my baking hero Joy the Baker's recipe until it's become my own. It's the highlight of fall for some of my friends and I'm not even stretching the truth.

And on that note, baking something once a week seems like an attainable goal since it's getting dark out earlier and earlier.

{Drink a Pumpkin Spice Latte}

Obvs, I've done this. One from Sbux on a dreary Friday afternoon when it was just the slightest bit chilly and  numerous from the Coffee Shack. But since I'm a stickler for rules and such, I'll only count the one I drink after I finish this post. Who knows? Maybe I can drink one with one of my readers in spirit!

{Have a Fall Photo Shoot}

Yeah, this one's pretty self-explanatory for a photographer like myself. All I need is a volunteer...or multiple volunteers. I'm cool with either. Any takers? When I get my ducks in a row I'm going to send out a mass text to all my GORGEOUS Word of Life girls and plead with them to let me take pictures of them. Sounds like a plan to me.

{Host a Park Day}

I still have memories of the impromtu park day we had with our CBS friends last year. I'm thinking of getting some of my age friends and swinging to our hearts content...with my camera in tow, of course.

{Have a Fire in the Fireplace}

When you live in an old drafty house, you learn to heat up the house in creative ways. Baking something, having a fire, etc. We've yet to have a actual fire in our wood burning fireplace {no gas logs for us!} so I can't wait to sit around the fire late one Friday night watching our favorite family TV show. Perfection.

{Play Football with Clark and his friends}

I love football...no ifs, ands, or buts about it. While I'm not the BEST player in the whole wide world, I understand some simple plays and love to play a quick game with Clark and the Furloughs now and then.

So that's my Fall Bucket List 2011. Five simple, attainable goals to make me feel like I accomplished something in my all time favorite season. The only thing that's left? To ask my readers a question and here it is: would you rather get an update post every time I cross something off my list or have one big recap post when I've completed them all? It's up to you!

Happy Fall readers! May your skies be blue and leaves be red...or something like that. I never said I was a poet.

9/1/11

I'm past my I-hate-the-end-of-summer-why-must-the-world-be-so-cruel-and-take-my-summer-away?! phase & moved onto the OMG-all-fall-thing-all.the.time phase. I think I just heard the collective ::sigh:: of relief from all my blog readers... ;)

Since it's Sept. first (and I can officially start thinking about Fall things now, ha) I decided it would be fitting to share all of my favorite things that Fall is all about. You know, because I'm OCD like that.

{Football}

Never thought that would be on the top of my list, didja? I've been raised in the Pirate Nation & dressed as a ECU cheerleader since I was born (wouldn't you like to like to see a picture of THAT) so it's in my blood to get excited about football. I'll miss the Upward football games that Clark was involved in every week as my football fix, but I'm hoping to sneak back there & watch our friends the Furloughs play, along with the infamous Caleb (the pastors son) and go to a couple ECU games with my newly Pirate cousin, Samantha!

Also? I'm joining a NFL Fantasy league with our cousins the Waters. Don't tell anyone, but I'm saying I'm gonna pick all the cute guys to be on my team so they'll think I'm dumb & then I'll draft all the great guys on there so I can beat them silly. See? I can trash talk as well. ;)

{Food}

Sure, the rich soups & awesome baked goods of Fall are great, but I'm looking forward to having my little tea parties with Emily, sitting next to a roaring fire & chatting away. As always, cinnamon apple spice is my favorite tea (along with chamomile) but peach tea & regular ol' decaf P&G tea is going to be on hand all this fall/winter.

{The clothes}

Oh yes, it's time to invest in a billion pairs of Old Navy jeans & one day wonder scarves, throw on some boots (it's on my list to get a pair about mid calf length) and walk out the door looking uber cute. Oh, and don't forget the sweater dresses, colored leggings & hats/gloves.

{The Temps}

I woke up today and dare I say it? I was chilly! Gone are the days where you sweat to death each night as you fall asleep...I'm saying hello to cooler temps & jeans around the clock! Fires in the evening to ward off the chill in the air = heaven.

Happy first day of September readers! If you couldn't believe that it was already Sept...join the club!
